“Making History,
Shaping the Future”
75th Anniversary Commemorative Mural
Created to commemorate the organization's 75th anniversary, this mural translates complex themes—original mission, workforce culture, historical significance, and future possibilities—into a continuous visual narrative across four walls.
The design tells a story "in the round," guiding viewers through conceptual transitions from history to future using strategic color and compositional elements. The front and back walls anchor the narrative with "making history" and "shaping the future," while the transitional sides incorporate California landscape and cultural references specific to the location.
The mural spans over 800 square feet and incorporates 35+ custom colors built from the organization's brand palette. The project required extensive stakeholder collaboration and coordination to translate abstract concepts into a cohesive, impactful design.
The completed mural has transformed the community engagement space and serves as a point of pride at the organization's main entrance.
Concept, design, and painting was a collaboration by Jami Butler (project lead) and Krissy Jones.
