About Me

I’m a seasoned graphic designer with over 20 years of experience creating strategic, visually compelling solutions across print, digital, illustration, motion, and environmental design. My work spans corporate, academic, non-profit, government, and retail clients, and I focus on transforming complex ideas into clear, engaging visual narratives.

…that’s the AI version.

Here is what I want you to know, in my own words. It’s true, I am a “seasoned” designer. I spent most of my career exclusively freelancing, after finding that a few side projects blossomed into so much work that I had to quit my day job.

In the beginning I said yes to every design project that came my way, often having no idea how to approach it, and then rapidly learning what I needed in order to complete the project. This philosophy helped me to develop a broad range of technical skills spanning print, digital, web, email, motion....until eventually I could not keep up with the constantly-evolving technology.

I then shifted my focus to fewer, more complex projects that I felt particularly excited about such as annual reports and long document design, infographics, integrated campaigns, brand development, and technical illustration. I even had my own pet portrait painting business during this time – but I’ll save that story for an in-person chat.

Along the way I picked up a lot of other valuable skills: how to “read between the lines” of a client’s request, project management, attention to detail, and end-to-end uncompromising quality from concept to final deliverables. I also learned that while being a good designer is fundamental, I think it’s even more important to be someone who other people want to work with.

Most recently I worked as a Principal Creative Designer at Sandia National Laboratories, where I had the exciting opportunity to expand more into motion design and experiential/environmental design. Working in 3-dimensional space, as well as motion/time, has helped me to refine a more sophisticated, strategic, design-thinking mindset. This type of growth has been instrumental in all of my work, and I remain passionate about future project opportunities, despite AI and other weird challenges that are inherent in a creative career.

In my free time I pursue my own personal artistic growth including painting murals, abstracts, illustration, and sculpture. I am also a lover of the outdoors, enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
